The stranger diaries
(Book)
Description
'If you'll permit me, ' said the Stranger, 'I'd like to tell you a story.' Reclusive Gothic writer, R.M. Holland was most famous for his chilling story The Stranger. His house is now a school, Talgarth High, rumoured to be haunted by the ghost of Holland's murdered wife. The rumours also claim Holland was her murderer. Clare Cassidy teaches at Talgarth High and is writing a biography of Holland. When her friend and colleague is found dead, a line from The Stranger by her side, Detective Sergeant Harbinder Kaur isn't sure whether Clare is a valuable expert witness or a suspect. Grieving and afraid, Clair turns to her diary. In it she writes her fears - and her own suspicions about the killer's identity. Imagine Clare's horror when she notices other writing starting to appear in her diary - writing that isn't hers. Someone has been into her house and read her darkest secrets. A strange and deadly game is being played out, with Clare at its heart. But no matter which way DS Kaur turns, the case keeps coming back to Talgarth High, and lurking at its centre the dark presence of R.M. Holland, and The Stranger. -- inside cover
